No. 12: The Eye of the Needle

The literary stick no. 12: the eye of the needle.

Camel: You want me to fit through where? (The eye of the needle [a narrow passage])

Rich man: You want me to go where?

In the New Testament, Jesus says that it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a right man to enter heaven. A point of clarification: He wasn’t talking about an actual needle, rather a famous narrow gateway that was called “The Needle.”

References to THE EYE OF THE NEEDLE in literature are suggesting that whatever the task was, it was difficult.
